Severe Storms Threaten…
Severe weather, including heavy rainfall and damaging winds, is threatening the mid-section of the United States this Friday. If you look at the top image on this blog, you’ll see a national weather map with all the watches and warnings across the United States. (This image is from Friday morning! You can find the latest watches and warnings for your area at www.nws.noaa.gov, the National Weather Service website.) The areas in green have the potential for flash flooding. If your county has a red warning, flash flooding is happening right now, or is about to happen. Yellow areas indicate that a tornado watch has been issued. Northern Louisiana, Northwestern Mississippi and Southern Arkansas are all under a tornado watch. Within the areas marked for a tornado watch, forecasters have issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Northern Louisiana Southwestern Arkansas.
The difference between a WATCH and a WARNING: A watch means that conditions are right for severe weather to occur. A warning means the weather is occuring (a tornado has been spotted), or is about to occur very shortly.
You can watch the latest watches and warnings from TV forecasters across the country on my website. Go to GET YOUR LOCAL TV FORECAST on the right hand menu of the screen. (The light green tabs) Click on the link. Scroll down to your state, and then pick your city.
